Dirtsman, a Jamaican dancehall deejay, gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Renowned for his distinctive voice, clever lyrics, and dynamic stage presence, he crafted several hit songs, including “Hot This Year,” “Bubble and Wine,” and “Rough This Year.” A member of the Super Power sound system alongside his brother Papa San, Dirtsman tragically met his end in 1993 when gunmen attacked him at his residence in Spanish Town. Widely recognized as a pioneer of the dancehall genre, his influence resonates in the work of many artists who followed in his footsteps.
